Spring is almost here, the grass is starting to green, the trees are starting to bud, and the CRICKETS are starting to SING.
Crickets eat just about anything. This includes dead insects, live insects, silk, paper, wood, and just about anything we eat as well as wool and cashmere sweaters! Dayton Pest control knows crickets are a pest for several reasons. First, they can destroy wallpaper. Crickets love to eat the glue which holds wallpaper onto walls. This usually allows access to furniture, drapes, rugs and clothing. Crickets are just as likely to be in closets as moths or carpet beetles.
Since one female cricket can lay hundreds of eggs, initial activity is usually not noticed. Once eggs hatch and migrate around a home, populations will expand quickly. In the spring, expect to see small crickets. As the summer goes by, these will grow larger and larger. By fall, adults will be burrowed into structures looking for a warm place to spend the winter months.
Living in North Texas
you are well aware that in addition to being pests they can also make a lots and lots of noise. This singing can become unbearable. Expect it to be loud, continuous and to occur at night. Crickets are nocturnal by nature and do their feeding and singing when it is dark outside. This makes treating for them more challenging but there are ways to keep them at bay.
At Dayton Pest Control we provide a multi-prong approach to keep crickets away from your home. Our approach involves both granular and sprays. Call Dayton Pest Control today for a free consultation. 214-774-2986, or email us info@dfwbugs.com.
